Born and raised in rural Utah, and now based in Salt Lake City, Juniper Wolf-Velarde is a self-taught oil painter whose work moves through dreams, the tension between intensity and intimacy, and a sense of otherness. In recent years, performance has entered her practice as a second medium, pushing those same themes into real time and her own real body. Here, a throughline of the female form and visceral discomfort emerges. She is currently developing a new body of work to bring her work to a public audience for the first time.
